Shortly after our 2015 reunion, Charles, retired one year and very happily so, went into hospital for a non-emergency stent and didn’t come out. Not good. As he can’t write his yearbook entry this time, I’ll just mention that he was a GP in Newcastle, but retained a keen interest in diabetes and nephrology, doing hospital sessions throughout his career at Freeman and Newcastle General hospitals, and was awarded FRCP in 2002, his proudest career moment. He would have been thrilled to be a grandfather. My family now includes three delightful and exhausting grandchildren in London and Manchester. Having benefited from what I think was the Golden Age of general practice, I now love being retired and am so grateful. We’re a lucky vintage. As Charles would say, “Don’t waste time.” And as Yvonne reminded us, “Life is sweet.” Cheers and Good Health!
