After graduating and house jobs, I did GP training in Newcastle and was appointed to a practice in Osborne Rd, Jesmond.
Relton Cummings, my best mate from Medical School, joined the practice which became the Holly Medical Group and although I say it myself, we made a great team.
I was never made to be a specialist so General Practice was perfect for me. Almost anything we had learned at Medical School could come through the door. I loved it.
I married Carolyn Burton, who was a GP in Fenham and we had 2 boys and now 3 grandchildren.
We have a cottage in the Lake District and we still love walking, cycling, skiing and all the many pleasures that come from being retired people.
What a privileged generation we are.
