I trained in general medicine in Newcastle, then Clinical Oncology in Edinburgh and finally, a consultant at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee (& with involvement in research, became an honorary professor). After 26 years as a consultant, I was, however, happy to retire in 2012. By that stage, our 3 children were either down south or abroad, so Rosemary (Newcastle 1976) and I retired to a small village in the Cotswolds where we have been very happily settled. We seem to have been very busy with the usual retirement activities – village life, golf, holidays and seeing our children, their partners and the grandchildren. Looking forward to being back in Newcastle.
