The Class of 75 Reunion

1975-2025 The Golden One

Roger Smith

I enthusiastically drifted into ophthalmology following house jobs in Newcastle and spent a few years learning the trade there under excellent supervision. I then moved to Leeds General Hospital Infirmary and had to learn many new surgical skills working with some then notable teachers.

Finally managed to be appointed consultant in Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle and stayed full time and then part time for perhaps too many years.

Retired fully in 17/18 and enjoying retirement with sailing holidays, wildlife cruises, cycling and relatively flat walking holidays. Grandchildren keep us very busy in the interim as is the fashion!

Aficionados will recognise the photo setting in our local boiler room in Carlisle – I’m the one on the left!

Looking forward very much to the meet-up.
